Flaxseed Benefits

Why flaxseed?

Flaxseed is a vegetarian source of Omega-3 Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA) and dietary fibre. The ALVEL flaxseed information describes the PKV NL 260 variety and reports 7 g of ALA in a 30 g serving. It also identifies calcium, magnesium, potassium and lignans as part of flaxseed's nutritional profile.

How to use it

Add roasted or ground flaxseed to breakfast cereals, smoothies, baking mixes, rotis, parathas, soups, chutneys and other everyday foods. The source page suggests 30 g (about two tablespoons) daily for adults.

Choosing an ALVEL product

Roasted and salted flaxseed is a convenient snack or topping. Cold-pressed flaxseed oil can be used in suitable foods without heating. ALVEL also offers Omega-3 fortification products, soft gels and Omega-3 chocolate.
